Advanced education was advocated by Theodor von Karman during his years in CalTech [1]. Von Karman is widely known for his outstanding works in aerodynamics: the vortices he investigated bear his name  (The image  is from Van Dyke’s album  [2] --- great for teaching Fluid Mechanics).
